Armstrong Creek Update 12/26/20

Post by CHOPPER 3 »

All of the swamps/wet sections of the 100 MILER were packed between 12/22 & 12/25. Using our Thiokol Sno-Cat , we found the swamps in some areas to be on their way to a decent start but not as far along as we'd of hoped . Our Sno-Cat weighs 3,500 lbs , the Tucker weighs 12,500 lbs without the drag . The cold temps in the last week have had a substantial impact on our way to a good freeze up , however none of the areas are ready to be navigated by grooming equipment . Some " puddles" have 4-8" of ice but many of the bad spots in the bogs only have around 2" . Busting up the ice and bringing water to the surface and allowing it to freeze is how we strengthen the trail . Hopefully we can hang onto the cold for weeks to come . We obviously need some more snow , so start doing the Snow Dance , put the white crayons in the freezer and lets hope we can all get out on the trails soon .
