Armstrong Creek Update 12/13/19

Post by CHOPPER 3 »

The Armstrong Creek Tucker was out yesterday finishing up the major stuff from the storm south of town on SS1 to the swamp and south of the swamp to Bensen Lake road . The swamp is not passable for our equiptment . It is wetter than we've seen in years . A new stream has formed due to the high water level this year compounding an already ugly situation . We crept out onto the bog as far as we could , got out to check depth and promptly went up to our knees in muck . Packing it as wide as possible , we left the bubbling crude alone for the rest of the day . The south side of the swamp was no better but we managed to pack what we could before clearing the trail and heading back to the north . I will be heading north today to the long swamp behind Gordon and Laura lakes and the short section between Nelligan Pond to check progress in this area . As Wabeno stated , the trails have been "cleared" but there are plenty of helmet slappers and light brush that could still be tackled (no chainsaws required) . There will be a small crew out in the Armstrong areas saturday . We will be out panning friday and saturday . We received between 7-8" of snow with the storm yesterday with over 2' of snow out in the woods now . We will be packing the swamps with snowmobiles where we can today .
