Storm Brushing / Clean up

As most know , the storm we had has turned most of our trails system into a Brushing nightmare . Most of the work we did on the trails this fall and summer was covered by hanging trees and branches . The amount of tension on the overstressed trees presents a highly dangerous situation . We are trying to do the bulk of the dangerous work with our brushing rig so that come brushing day individuals for the most part will just be throwing limbs and branches off the trail . There are so many that it isn't possible for the operators to tend to them . We have been out since sunday getting a head start . This year we need every set of hands we can get to get these trails cleared so we can get our equiptment through . Snow machines will be the preferred method of travel to get out to our areas . Be aware that there are a lot of wet areas still present . All crews please use extra caution , take a few minutes to survey the situation , always have an escape route cleared when falling trees and look up before you start working . Trees that are bent over do not fall where you may think . If its too dangerous leave it for our equiptment . Thank You in advance to anyone helping out this Saturday and be safe :D

The Section south of Armstrong Creek to the Christmas Tree Inn (SS1) has been opened up to the swamp with the brusher . We will be back out today working North of Armstrong on the SS2 toward the lost lake area . Thanks to combined effforts with the 100 Miler and a land owner , we will be getting a chance to brush an area that has needed attention for years . Stay tuned for further updates .

This is the swamp south of town. It is still open, and has an uprooted tree across the trail. :(

SS2 will be opened to the swamp north of Armstrong by the end of today . The NST 2 and portions of NST 1 were packed late last night . We will be out with the SNO-CATS packing trails through out this weekend and next week . We will also be packing swamps with light equipment and snowmobiles before the freeze up that's coming . Just what the Doctor ordered :D :D
